I had two threads that were one post only (zero replies). To merge them I selected the post of the one to be moved (the later one), checked to move the post to an existing thread (aforementioned post in a different forum node), and moved it. Afterward the reactions were gone on the one moved. PS. It was moved from a Question forum to Article, but that should not matter for reactions (both posts were moved here and the first post of the thread still has them). Also there was no data loss...
