Ques/Help non forum style landing page

Hi
I'd like to have a default landing page in my forum, like a shop front, currently we have a post (it's not a default landing page just a nav link) that introduces the club to people but it has the usual post clutter such as the author name and watch menus, I'd like it to be a full width page, is there any way of doing this and also is there a way to make a post the default landing page?
