Ques/Help Parallel, Synced XF forum and Old-Fashioned Email List

Is it possible to have something that functions like an old-fashioned email listserv and a XF forum? I am trying to help a listserv migrate to the 21st century but some current users will refuse to do anything but check their email and reply there.
