Solved XF 2.3 - Using the [IMG] tag for webp and pnj files breaks the site

I tried searching but didn't see anything for this. I'm having an issue where users are trying to embed webp and pnj files (yes pnj, not png...Tumblr apparently) and it's causing site issues (layout becomes messed up, occasionally generates errors trying to access latest post).
